WHAT IS PROTEIN

We - like everyone else - talk a lot about protein, and the benefits of getting more protein, and why our protein is so much better than everyone elses protein; but what actually is protein?

Essentially it is a macronutrient, along with carbohydrates and fat - these are nutrients that we need in larger quantities for energy. Protein is made up of amino acids, and is often referred to as the building blocks of muscle mass: basically you need protein to build muscle - which is why it is at teh foundation of our sports nutrition range.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF PROTEIN

Having a high-protein diet is thought to have huge benefits for anyone looking to step up their trianing and fitness - and it's not all about building and maintaining muscle mass.

More protein in your diet has been shown to help reduce your appetite and cravings, and aids in weight loss goals. It also boosts your metabnolism, and increases your body burning fat.

It also - along with essential amino acids - helps your body recover quicker after periods of intense training.

WHEY PROTEIN

Whey protein is a "complete" protein with all 9 essential amino acids, and as such has many benefits - including to support the growth and maintenance of muscle mass when taken as a supplement. In its powdered form that you get, it has been micro-filtered to purify and concentrate, before we formulate and add flavourings.

ABOUT WHEY PROTEIN

VEGAN PROTEIN

If you’re looking to supplement your protein intake, and you’re following a vegetarian, vegan, or non-dairy diet, then you need to look at alternate sources than the usual whey protein supplements. For our vegan protein formula we’ve used a blend of brown rice protein, pea protein isolate, hemp protein powder and an instant BCAA mix to mirror the effects of our Bio Whey drink in muscle development, repair and recovery.

This combination of proteins is completely soy and dairy-free, while still contributing a comparable nutritional profile as more traditional protein drinks. It also has the benefit of additional nutrients such as increased fibre content.

ABOUT VEGAN PROTEIN

CASEIN

Casein is a slow-release protein contained in milk, that releases amino acids slowly, and consistently over time to help prevent muscle degradation during rest and recovery.

WHICH PROTEIN IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

With so many options to choose from it's hard to know which protein is right for you.

Obviously, if you're following a vegetarian or vegan diet then you may want to commit to our Vegan Protein powder.

In other circumstances though, it comes down to what you're looking to achieve. Our Bio Casein is a slow-release protein, where as our Bio Whey has a more immediate impact; that means if you're looking to prevent muscle breakdown you may want to focus on casein - however if you're focussed on new muscle growth during training, then Bio Whey is your go to.

In an ideal scenario you might want to consider taking a combination of both at different times of the day, taking your Bio Whey before and during your workout, and Bio Casein post-training.
